Ethics before money

Rate this Entry
Recently, a small issue has arrived over the domain name DNSales.com right here on our forums. What started out to be a normal sale thread turned into a Ethic bashing bonanza.

Chillking gave me an ear bashing in the chat even though i was simply stating, that had he announced he was to move the sale else where was his reserve not met, all would have been acceptable. But no, he went on to give several people private deals and swing around to breaking those deals, hoping that he would scavenge the net for the highest bidder, not caring much for his word to these individuals. Weak.

Sending multiple members PM's claiming they could have the name for a set price, fishing for the highest bidder and giving each his word is what I call a dishonest Domainer. This is my own opinion...

He went on to say it was none of anyones business what he did and that he was honest in simply wanting the highest bidder to pay up, and that we had to respect that. Wat respect? Give one person your word only to flip it once a higher bid comes along.

It's all about ethics, it's all about knowing the domainer you're dealing with is a genuinely honest person, at least a professional one who knows the rules behind domain selling. There are some things we do, and somethings we are bound not to do by what i call, domainer ethics.

How will you sell names in the future if no one trusts you enough to place a bid? :upset:

Thx for this Mike. Indeed we rely on trust and ethics as our business is pretty much faceless. In this case ethics are thrown away. Thank god we have a few people like yourself who stick for our community and do the efort to protect us from people who wipe their feet on trust end ethics. Thank you for that.
