| Gold Lifetime Member | Hi, I'd like to open an online shop and am new to register a domain name. Which registrar is: 1. not easy to be hijacked or stolen for the domain name 2. 10 or above free domain name emails and with email protection ( less stolen and spammed) 3. domain name email accounts backup 4. not difficult to transfer the domain name and all the email accounts to the new registrar (maybe someday) 5. with WhoIs Privacy function (not too expensive per year), can be on or off with this function, will the website's created date show up? What does it look like when the website's info. is hidden? 6. good support, with ticket system, easy or quick to get help by email or other ways 7. Paypal without extra % surcharge 8. User-friendly control panel or function panel 9. $10-20 per year Any others need to notice? Perhaps this registrar won't exist, but I hope I can get one as close as possible. Thank you so much for your help ^_^ |

| Gold Lifetime Member | Thanks Carter! There is PayPal surcharge from Moniker. Is it more safe or better to set up the commercial email accounts in registrar? Quote:
It seems that Moniker is good,( least complains from people?) but why so many people go to Godaddy? I just hope to be in less trouble after registered. And what does it look like when the website's info. is hidden? I just know some non-hidden, for example, http://whois.domaintools.com/sony.com Last edited by YKD; 02-13-2009 at 08:26 PM.. DNF$: 105 Location: Virginia | If you want a simple registrar - godaddy - think a honda accord. If you want more advanced/secure - moniker - think a Mercedes I also second Hostgator for hosting. So far so good for me(granted I'm only using them for minor projects to date.) For Free hosting I'd say 000webhost.com but if its something your going to want to setup over time I'd stay way clear of free hosts. I've heard Rackspace.com is good for bigger projects. |

Some people think that the control panel of Moniker and GoDaddy are not user-friendly. Any others better I can choose? Hostgator seems not bad, but some said unlimited space and bandwith are in fact non-existed and careful of the unstable server. I am thinking about... You said right for the free hosting. Besides, it will pop up some advertisements and be so disturbing. Yes, I just went to Rackspace.com and its live chat is really ready with an assistant. Since it's a dedicated host, as for my new small online shop, it shouldn't be quite suitable for its monthly fee. | |
