| Platinum Lifetime Member | Actually there is no secure email either, the most important thing is using random passwords for every registrar account you have and your email. I use 16 character passwords generated and stored with keepass (www.keepass.info). However if someone gets a hold of your email they can likely get a hold of your domain account password and may be able to transfer domains out. Unless you use something like: -Name.com's token -Fabulous's e-lock -Pairnic's Registrar lock -Moniker's Maxlock -Dynadot's built in account lock (set your birthday to a random date and record in keepass)

| Platinum Lifetime Member | Someone pointed this out and he is correct. The registrar should be outside of US. Here is a basic strategy as the "enemy" is not just a domain thief. For all around maximum security: 1. You need more than one registrar 2. You need some registrars outside of US 3. You need registrars with Secondary Lock, Primary Lock, Auto Renew, Privacy 4. You need a Trust Service behind that Privacy. You need an LLC behind that Trust Service (this is a very basic setup). 5. You need a separate email and password for each registrar 6. You need good domain lawyer close by. 7. Registrar has to have free privacy 8. You need a domain recovery plan in case you die. 9. You need to be in a position to move your domains around 10. Registrar has to have a rollback plans or process for stolen domains 11. Registrar has to verify transfers 12. Registrar has to follow the law. Can not make laws as they go. 13. Registrar can not listen to gouberments or corporate entities. This is just a list for a good registrar. My favorite (not necessary the most secure) are Name and Fab |
