| Gold Lifetime Member | Hey guys, this is an alert for anyone who has ever had a domain with Yahoo! Domains. I recently got billed $34.95 by Yahoo! Domains even though I had transferred my domain to Go Daddy!! If you have any domains with Yahoo! they say you have to "cancel" the service even if you've transferred the domain to avoid getting billed (presumably into infinity) for services that no longer exist! | | Wow, thanks for the heads up. I have one name there which I just transferred out. Immediately after, i called to cancel my "contract." What a crock of shit! They even have a special department that handles billing, contracts, collection letters, and cancellations! Amazing! I'm soooo glad you made me aware of this and was able to cancel before they start their bullshit. |

| Platinum Lifetime Member | Sounds like Ipower Used to be. Not that they are any better now. But I wouldnt Know - I got the hell out of there and had my CC block their company from ever charging me for anything. Why can't Domain Companies just be upstanding Partners in the Domain Community. I hate unscrupulous Companies. Yahoo should have sold to Microsoft. Now they are Stealing money from people. Sad!! |

| David | Yahoo is probably following the business model used by 1and1 (a big player) which involves paying a yearly fee for something 1and1 calls a "package" which is not based on the domain itself but based on the yearly package cost (payable even if the domain was transferred away). Too bad they are doing this because so many folks used Yahoo based on their name and trust and little else. |

DNF$: 0 Location: Spain | it doesn't matter of the domain wasn't cancelled on their system or not, they charged for a service that hasn't been provided and they are unable to provide it. ask them for a refund telling them that they haven't provide you with the renewal they are charging for, if they refuse to refund you the money, the magic word is "chargeback"

| David | Won't work because Yahoo would probably say what 1and1 say's in that they did indeed provide a service along these lines: "you did not actually pay for the domain as a domain is included free in the "package" so instead you pay a yearly fee for the package which just happens to include a domain name if you wish to keep it here and you can also buy extra cost hosting as part of your package." |

The so called package is a 1and1 thing, not Yahoo, and is called something else by Yahoo. I don't have any domains at Yahoo but have read their current business model is similar to the 1and1.com "package" model but in the past Yahoo did not do that. | |

| Exclusive Lifetime Member | Another problem that one faces at yahoo is that once you cancel the domain name and their service , even if YAHOO don't charge you , the domain name is renewed for another year . of course one doesen't have access to it but the whois information is yours(remains the same) . and the name servers get changed to a parked page Quote:
Thanks | |

| Platinum Lifetime Member | I just had both Yahoo and Ipower hit me with renewal fees, even though the credit card I had on file with them has been expired for over 6 months. I thought that since the cc was expired, they couldn't charge on it, which isn't the case. I called my cc company, and they said I have to make the effort to get the charges dropped by Ipower and Yahoo, but if I can't, they will do the chargeback.
