read between the lines...this doesnt mean there isn't money there...its just he found a gold mine and he isn't going to waste his time making nickels and dimes... it opened doors for him as well.

if you want these clients start promoting or open up a thread and offer deals or smooth transactions so they don't miss a beat, these people/customers are going to be scrambling. Good Luck to all.

Agreed completely. Developing for others is a pain in the rear. It's so much easier to ask yourself a question about a design / functionality than a customer. You pretty much have to be psychic to do web design/development, unless you charge strictly by the hour. Charging a flat amount can be financially suicidal.

How come there is no money? Rick was selling the sites for $250 while others did them for under $100, should be enough of a margin. I'm surprised with these news, I think maybe people just started using the cheaper services and it's realy hard to compete with the prices in this.

Bingo!....So true...and yet so sad at the same time....so many domainers that own very-high end domains....yet scoff at spending $$ in developing them....

    No surprise.
There is little added value in webdesign these days, in particular crippled minisites... especially when you can outsource the job to India. Plus... why develop for others if you have the know-how and can make money out of it

The amount of bullshit surrounding the minisites saga has reached epic proportions. When Rick is smart enough to realize that, people need to take notice.

    Good points, all of them.

It is easier to get one of your sites up quick to start generating revenue. Then, time permitting, you can go back a tweak things, add stuff, etc.

When you are your own customer, it is much easier to please the client.

Although, sometimes we are so difficult to please ourselves and we end up tweaking things to death.

Personally I just use good old dnforum template services for my mini sites/domain development which depending upon the number of sites you purchase can be as low as $25 each, and then spend time as is possible making them better. One example is here:
