    amateur tries site design

    Hey there,

I'd like to get people's opinions on my site http://www.psphome.com. Initially I had it as just a forum, but have now started to develop it further. I would appreciate constructive comments on the layout/design etc, and also things that I've missed out, or you think should be on the site (not including the broken links that are under contruction)

    Thanks in advance!

The blue is a touch too dark to have black text. Try lightening the blue just a bit to make the text pop. Otherswise lookin' good.

You need to line the tables up properly.

    Re: amateur tries site design

Thanks for the tip, GiantDomains. I changed it slightly but it looks better
RMF- the tables look lined up okay to me... or do you mean the fact that the top title and nav is not the same width as the rest?

    Re: amateur tries site design

    I agree with biggedon.

I think the look should be more "mainstream fun" and less "Gothic gamer", if you know what I mean.

I like the look of your front page more than your forum look, but would personally have gone even more lighter and colorful. Your design, nav, etc. should be consistent throughout on all pages.

Also, I think your front page header should be the same size as the body - on my screen it's about 40px smaller on each side.

    Just my 2¢ worth.

Looks real boring. The colors don't say anything to the visitor.

    Re: amateur tries site design

The header and Nav should be the same size as the layout under it smooth out the flow of the design. If you like Dark I say go black and use White text.

    Just my 2 cents,

    Good luck

I see you've been workin on it! Looking good. That orange that you use in the logo, use that as an accent color in other places to give it some color. Lookin' good!

    Re: amateur tries site design

Thanks for the praise GD! I agree that accenting with the orange would be a good idea.. I have something like that with the link mouseovers, I tried using plain orange text but the background is too light. I'm sure I'll think of something!

The header and nav look much better! keep at it.
The orange adds the much needed contrast.

    Re: amateur tries site design

I agree on the color. Also, I would see what it looks like to have the font in the center column one size larger. Either I'm getting old or it seems kinda small for giving out the basic information of the web site.

I like the over all theme of your site.

    Rock

As I was closing up the your site i saw this

"This site is currently in development, but the forums are up and running, you can see them by clicking the link below."

I don't know if this fits in the category or not but some directories and search engines don't like to see "under construction" so I don't know if the above statement would give you problems in this regard.

Just a thought to pass on.

    Rock
