Any 'Stock' Directory Site Plans Available?

Hi!

I have Antiquers.COM which I bought here from URL Collection (thanks!) plus a few really good .US (Art, Stock, Beautiful, Antique, DVD, Surplus, RadioStation, Film, Hamfest (Ham Radio)), .BIZ (Surplus, Tube, Salon - not the best here!), and .INFO (Law, HamRadio, & Manuals) mostly one word 'whole field' domain names. I would like to develop user/business directory type sites where users (such as consumers with specific interests)and businesses (sellers/suppliers/stores) could enter their information for retrieval from an SQL database by people browsing the site. In an idea world, for retail locations, a map would come up showing major areas where the stores (such as antique malls or art galleries, etc.) of interest are located. A list of businesses with web links would appear below the map for the given user query. I would want to be able to be pretty agile regarding the users query ability. Stores within a certain distance from a zip code or city, types of stores, etc. would need to be retrievable. A free listing would be offered for anyone with additional paid advertising options being available.

I do have some basic programming ability (HTML, SQL, basic programming knowledge) but this seems to be a pretty daunting task to do right and I do want to do it right if I do it. If there are no generally templates available for purchase (such as the one that runs DNforum), does anyone have any suggestion regarding the best (and simplest) programming language to use for database retrieval, etc. Is it Perl, PHP, Cold Fusion, or something else assuming that your goal isn't to become the web administrator of a Fortune 500 company AND that you want to actually develope your sites after a few months, rather than years, of study??
