Appraisal and development potential for cameraman(dot)com

Hi All,

I'd like to know what in your opinion this domain would fetch these days and market conditions and I was also wondering if it would be better to develop the domain first.

I have a few ideas in mind but looking for input from others. What type of site you would create for it?

I work in the film industry, I'm a Camera Man myself!

CameraMan_com = a website developed to provide tools, books, links, forum, videos, tutorials, camera products, etc.

The list goes on, keep in mind. Camera Man also = Camera Operator

Camera Assistants love to buy gadgets to make their jobs easier or fun!

They work 12-20 hours a day. They have no time to chit chat on forums, the forum would benefit those who are starting out and looking for guidance and direction into the industry. So a forum would be one thing I would add.

Camera Operators also have demo reels, a video database of Camera Operators will benefit you and visitors.

I think this is a very good domain. I would not sell it quickly unless you really need the cash. Some studio will want it eventually, especially if it was the name of something. For example what if some studio made a movie called Cameraman? What would they pay you?

Why not dev and hold it for a good retail sale?

So let me see if I understand you. If a major studio was releasing a new movie, and it was a big-budget movie, about a cameraman who is evil or a killer or has super powers or whatever - and the title of the movie is Cameraman - then you are saying they would not want this domain?

The real question is how urgent is the sale; how much does the seller need money. If you want to optimize the sale of a domain then you hold for those rare situations. Like iReport.com being bought by CNN.

Shit yea you're absolutely right, I should be regging every domain I have plus "-movie" and "movie" so that if a movie is released, they'll HAVE to pay for my domain, and the "-movie" on the end won't help them.

I can get some amazing domains like this - recession-movie.com, creditcard-movie.com. Thanks for your wise words.

Wedding photography is huge business. If I were you I would see who is paying the most for wedding photography related keywords on Google, and offer them the domain.
