Question blog pages vs posts - ?

Looking at WordPress, which so far has been heads over the stuff I used prior, < / end plug >

but WordPress lets you publish pages or posts. They both allow for feedback/comments. Pages show up in the navigation all the time (well depending on how your theme works and page nesting).

Is there any difference from a SEO or revenue perspective with a page vs a post? With URL rewrites you can have pages with the ?=xxx, or yy/mm/dd/title or title format, where pages would be title, so that seems to be an out of the box difference. But if that makes a revenue or traffic difference, then you would think all posts should be in the same url format.

I guess what I am asking is, they both look and smell the same to me - how do the bots see them, if at all, differently?

    Thanks

Posts keep your home page fresh (if you have your permalinks set to postname and home page display to latest posts.) This has an advantage on search engines. Keep you categories specific to keywords as well.

I use pages for main navigational pages and blog posts for article pages. If you use permalinks it's the same url format.

Thanks - that confirms what I was thinking - Pages for a few things, and just stick to posts with proper post URL's
