Question Blog Sites

Is there anyone who really believes this blogging thing (at the level of hype that it's currently getting) is anything more than an overblown fad?

Is there anyone who has the time on a long-term basis to browse through the random half-baked thoughts and trivial life experiences of the masses to find the occasional worthwhile nugget?

I’m not saying it’s not fun reading some of it, but is this really a new major category?

I think you may be looking at it from the wrong angle. I agree that the reading audience may be limited, but the number of people "blogging" will continue to grow... whether anyone else reads their blogs or not.

Hi,
A 'blog' is essentially an online journal. This type of web site is really catching on all all over the world. In fact, Bloggers are the fastest growing segment of our client base.

http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/a/java...13/megnut.html is a great article that offers a little insight into Blogging.

I believe that blogs are here to stay, that's why I bought sexblogs.net - haven't got round to using it yet though

That's why I picked up www.livediary.com too. I have a blog, but don't use it very much.

Women are apparently really into blogging. I saw some usage stats at:

http://www.ujournal.org/stats.bml

and it says that almost 80% of users are female. At the larger "livejournal" site:

http://www.livejournal.com/stats.bml

64% are women.

So, a revenue model with advertising focused on products appealing to women could work.
