Current Pop-up rate for auction site?

I have been approached regarding selling popups on my site (that would direct visitors to a competitors site). the competitor has asked me to present an offer (price) for the popups.

What is the current rate for popups (assuming that some of my own visitors would be directed to a competitor).

Of course I don't have to do it but, if the price is right I could "invite competition". ;-)

    Thanks in advance.

Normally you can buy traffic @ $3cpm and you can sell traffic from $2 to $3 per cpm. It's not normally worth it to deface a quality site to stick pop-ups on, it will drive away traffic. Many a simple text ad or banner, people are use to them, but they hate pop-ups. IMHO

I also think pop-ups are a bad idea for a popular site., people dont seem to mind popunders as much., as long as its not more than one

If it is a competitor, do some research first, see what kind of traffic the other site is recieving, rates or prices offered, and quality or difference in products being offered. Then simply decide weather it is worth selling traffic, working out a banner exchange deal with the competitor, or simply turning it down. Don't send away your potential customers, or cause a price war with your competitor by introducing potential visitors (bargain shoppers) to an unknown source (competitor).

Thank you for your excellent advice, Seriouswrong, DoubleDee999, Namecaster, Domainnut.

I take your words very seriously and I am working on this under a new light. I would suggest a banner exchange but his site appears to be newer, obviously with much lesser recognition and visitor volume. I am rethinking this and I may propose to sell him banner space.

    Thanks again.
