I went into the account settings of both and added the nameserver of the host to godaddy. How long should I be expect to wait and also should I unlock my domain or keep it parked?

I believe you should have figured it by now. But, just in case:
1. You need to first unlock your domain. Then make the nameserver changes.
2. Once done, lock your domain back.
DNS changes usually takes effect immediately on GoDaddy, but it needs to propagate for an average of 12-48 hours. Ok?
