Which domain to start on? Some wacky ones...

    Hi everyone,

It's been some time since I've been on DNForum, mainly because my boss was a total web noob and tried selling some $28 domains for $50000+... and the proceeds were supposed to be part of my paycheck. lol

So, one boss later, I've got a few domains of my own I've got to play around with...

    90210411.com
    rp-sl.com
    sl-rp.com
    celebiq.com
    celebrityvenom.com
    celebvenom.com
jesuscornflake.com (for all those gobawful eBay auctions)
mucklejohn.com (one of England's most famous jesters)

Does any of these sound good to start? And what tools to people use to develop sites around here? I've heard Dreamweaver is really good, though I will prolly have to rely on RapidPHP till I can upgrade from my Pentium I.

    Thanks,
    Lionel

Personally, I wouldn't develop any of those, unless you have something specific in mind. Lots of good deals to be had on keyword names right now. Check the forums, check tdnam, etc. You can find something better to start with for about the same price as renewing any of them, or slightly more. Try to find something product or service related.

Dreamweaver is the standard, but there's no way you'll want to run a recent version on a P1. You might find an old version on ebay or craigslist that would run on win95/98. However, if you know very little, consider something like netobjects fusion, or maybe play with mozilla composer (part of the seamonkey package). Search the forums, there was a thread a couple of months ago about free html editors.

How about bluefish, the standard in open source web editors. I've been using dreamweaver for ages, infact, it's the only reason I keep windows. I started using bluefish last week on Ubuntu, and I tell you, it's almost as good and much lighter weight. (and free!).

I'm a asp.net man myself. Just find it easier than PHP for some reason and I feel I can do alot more with it. I find Visual Studio a great GUI to work with and the express version is free. However, I have worked with vb/c#/asp for 12 years so i guess i know no different and have got used to it.

If you have any experience with visual basic etc then it is at least worth a look as the learning curve is not that great.
