Experiement for site ranking
Out of curiosity, please participate in this experiement.
We are trying to see if the new Google +1 will help in ranking a site in a quicker fashion.
I know it is a social network. But since it is google perhaps they are adding a little weight in favor of using their network vs the other social networks.
This site is not mine, the domain name is not mine, but does belong to a DNF member.
Participation is easy and painless.
DO NOT USE YOUR BROWSER TO GO TO THIS SITE
Go to the Google Search bar.
In the search bar, enter YorkieBlogger.com
When you see the site listed, go to the far right of the first line and CLICK ON THE +1 ICON.
That's it!
Normally it takes a couple of weeks for a site to get ranked and move up the rankings to even break into the top 200 or 100.
We would like to know if this is or can be used as another method of boosting rankings along with SEO.

Gave you a +1 Doc. Do you have any findings to report after 2 weeks?
You should also consider using the +1 plugin for wordpress so that there are buttons on your site as well.. For now i have heard mixed feelings about using this for SEO purposes..

When it comes to all things being equal (social network to social network as in Facebook vs. Google +1), I have little doubt that Google will give the edge (and perhaps rankings) to its own system vs. a competitor.
To google, everything and everybody is a competitor. A search engine, a social network, a browser, an operating system, and now phone manufacturer. What google can do to promote its own services and products will weigh heavily in terms of their SEO. The results may not be immediately seen but I think in short time, Android will trump Apple iTunes, Motorola will trump other makers, +1 will push Facebook to the side.

Oh right, this was being done in dnf college if i am not mistaken.. Will check out for results there

I've tried this on one of my own sites. Had 20 people press the +1 but cannot say the result is impressive.
Maybe a small edge... but nothing worth putting much effort in, compared to quality backlinks or articles
