Exclamation Forum / Message Board Software ....

I'm in the process of developing a forum. My question is for both users and developers, between VBulletin & InvisionBoard, what software do you recommend? Are there pros and cons, or more pros about one than the other?

I've seen both in action. I just would love to get some feedback from other forum gurus, users, and developers out there on your preference.

Thanks!

VBulletin is by far the best choice, majority of new and old developers of other scripts will build a interface that is compatible with vbulletin.... i learned the hard way when i decided to choose another forum script... 2 years ago.. this year i upgraded my site and could not use but vbulletin... so i lost members and threads!

vbulletin is the best choice!

phpBB can be upgraded to vBulletin later down the track, if you choose to go that option

Thanks for the feedback ... I see that DNForum uses VBulletin and has evolved/updgraded the features as well as made enhancements over the years.

Is there a place that someone can direct me to so I can see all of the features and capabilities of VBulletin? I'll check out their site after this post ... I like how some InvisionBoard forums, users can post photos within a post. I'm sure that's a feature that can be implemented in VBulletin.

If you're low on a budget and you're going to need RSS feeds, look into SMF (Simple Machines Forums or something like that). It's free (like phpBB) and has RSS feeds (input) built into it.

Question Costs ...

It looks like with vBulletin, I'm looking at a 1-time licensing fee of $160 + an annual fee of $30 for sofware updates.

Outside of normal hosting and development, the $160 cost is pretty minimal to get a forum up.

Besides what I'm saying above, any other additional costs you see I may be missing?
