Could anyone shed some light on the best EASY forum software to use. I'd like to start a forum website and I know of the major softwares but I'd like to hear exactly how much work goes into them.

Are there any that are psuedo automated?

Most people are now going with PHP boards, but if you want a cgi (perl) board, I had one using discus that I was pretty pleased with. it's at discusware.com. The feature of it I like is the optional collapsible "tree view" that allows you to see the threaded replies in more of a usenet style similar to windows explorer, in addition to the way this forum shows them.

When you register, they send a custom install program for your host name making install fairly easy.
