FTP Questions?

Please don't make fun of me for asking such basic questions.

Anyway...

I do know that FTP is something that you use to link your developed webpages/sites from your computer to the host but I don't know how exactly it works. Could someone explain? Secondly, how do you get an FTP? If it comes for a price then which one would you recommend?

Wondering if the programs you mentioned are free or for a fee?

I don't know if I want to ( or need to) "set up" an FTP. I have some domain names and was thinking of making simple websites for them using Frontpage. I know that this FTP thingy would be the next step. A free lance webmaster had done this type of stuff for some of my other domains in the past so I do have a host company.

I personally use CuteFTP and love it, but it's not free. You can download some demos and full versions of FTP programs at download.com.

FTP is a piece of software for uploading your website files to the host computer.

This is a great piece of software and if you tell them you're a student while downloading it it's free! (or used to be)
