That's a neat tip MarkyMark. Pardon my ignorance, but what does alyce and prom dresses have in common?

Register Today on DNForum IT'S FREE!Just wanted to share a small experiment that turned out way beyond my expectations. I own the domain alyce.com which receives a lot of traffic everyday, but I didn't know what they were looking for so I put up a small question form on the page.
After 12 hours I had received 70 answers from my visitors (It turned out that they were looking for dresses, prom dresses, as I guess most americans would know (I didn't know).
I will use this technique for my other mystery traffic domains to be able to put up adequate banners and links to make the most out of the traffic. People are really helpful it turns out!

Excellent idea!![]()
very good tip- thanks
Great idea!
I had the same thing happen to me. I was going to put up an email link, asking people what they were looking for.
But instead, after putting up a lot of links to all sorts of stuff, I finally worked out that they were looking for web Hosting.
I think your text box is much better than just an email link, though. Easier for the person to submit their comments quickly.
Two thumbs up!![]()
That's a very good idea.
Love the friendly set up with form for posting comments.

Very good idea, what kind of flames do you get?
So, hypothetically of course, lets say the dressmaker company had a TM issue........
Would this use of the domain constitutre bad or good faith? I believe it would be seen as good and innocent.
Like, would your question show you had no idea of a TM and had registered in good faith? Or, if after this, you put up banners to their competitors, would that be bad faith use? Becasue you were made aware of thier existance by 'customers'.
I over think, but if I launched this for all 650 of my domains I would be hit with something similar I'm sure.

I've gotten a few funny answers:

- "um, Alyce, the designer of gowns... what else would we be looking for on Alyce.com???"
- "I want to find the dress that i bought. It is a pink long dress. Not poofy. But mostly i am looking for the hair styles on the girls in the dresses.--Jessica"
- "There isn\'t anything particular I was looking
for. I just typed in my name and this came up."
- "I am looking for a prom dress that i saw in a seventenn magazine, it is the perfect dress and i want it. I havent been able to find it on your site. Its pink/sparkly, droop neck, spagetti straps. Please tell me where I can find it!!!"
- "it sucks"
- "me want porn, food, and sex."
- "you need to sell this email address to alycedesigns.com"
- "I need a sexy and a little bit of lace that is black then I need some sassy on the dress. It has to be black and show alot of skin. Also kind of sporty
Thank You Megan"
and few hundreds more..
How do you feel about possible TM issues with this domain regarding the possible uses for it? Community, make-up store, clothing stores directory etc?
Kekeke funny answers. I would try and sell this domain to the actual dress designers. They might pay a lot for it, since they have enough money to advertise in the Seventeen magazine. I dunno, your the boss!
Insomnia is right... If you want to, you're in a classic text-book situation for selling!
good idea
