Help needed about GEO Domain please!

Hello!

I own the GEO Domain France.me and I would like to build a online portal for French users in France for each major city in the future. I see my website providing information to users and partnering with local advertisers.

Picture this, a website with lifestlye, events, gallery, news, education, locality, classifieds, and a forum.

I live in the UK and Im not sure if I could run a website about France because I have no contacts in France.

As a possible alternative to running the site I considered the doing the following:

a) Build a Beta bespoke website with sample real content, but for only one city - Paris. The other cities will be blank. Then try to :

A1) Sell the site to a Domain Investor, Venture Capital Firm or Media Company probably in France, for $xx,xxx - $xxx,xxx.

A2) Partner with any of the above buyers for a share of profits and let them operate the site.

A3) Lease the site to any of the above buyers for $x,xxx- $xx,xxx per year.

Question 1:

Which option do you think would most likely happen, and why please?

OR,

Should I try to run the my site and hire in help. I have a budget of £3,000.

I believe I would need :-

1) Editor(s) in France to do the website copy and update it.
2) Business Development Manager, to take care of advertising the site and other duties like finding advertisers for the site, and taking advantage of any other opportunities.
3) Technical Engineer, to make sure the site runs well.

Of course I probably would not have enought money to pay the above people so I would offer them a performance related package. Like Adsense profits, etc.

There could be more people that I would need but I can only think of the above for now.

About Me:

- I am only an individual
- I do not have any experience running a business although I have studied business.
- I do not want to be burdened with work, I want my site to be a delight to own or for someone else to have.
- I have a great domain so I do not need to spend a fortune on a name, maybe just some money on building, running the site and marketing. The same could be true for any buyer of my website.


So just to summarise:

Should I :

1. Build a bespoke site with content, but not live, and hope that an investor, VC, or Media company sees the opportunity and sell it for $xx,xxx - $xxx,xxx. (Like property/real estate, build a house with some new furniture and sell the showhouse.)

2. Partner with a company.

3. Build the site and try to lease it to a company. - Keep control.

Please could you try to help me with my project as soon as possible.

I would appreciate any answers, contacts, or proposal offers.

There are a lot of developers who run geo sites from different areas of the world.

I would spend time visiting other city/country portals and look at what kind of content they have and how they are monetizing their site.

You should visit: http://hellometro.com/ they have 100's of city portals. They don't manually add any of the content other than when they first launch a site. Their content is aggregated from many sites that they have an affiliate account with.

Here is a city site to look at: http://www.helloboston.com/

I would model my site/business after them. Their main revenue is affiliate based and not solely PPC

You could setup a network of subdomains for each major city.
