Help with Shock Wave Flash files .SWF please

I am trying to set up a site for my brother in law.
Actually the site have alreday been developed by other person who is no longer available to complete the job.

I am just trying to put the site online making some minor change but the previous developer used buttons coded in .SWF files to link pages to each other and I have no idea how to edit these kind of files.

Do you please know where I cand download a very simple editeor to modify .SWF files ?

You van see the site at: www.mexicocrafts.com/inicio.htm

(Actually my problem is that I want to change inicio.htm to index.htm and that for I have to change all the links embebed in the SWF buttons)

    Thanks,
    Attilio

Macromedia Flash makes SWF files...but you can't edit them. You need the original flash file to make changes. The flash file creates the swf file.

If you can't get the original file, then you could just use a 0 second redirect from inicio.htm to index.htm.

    Thank you very much.

I was suspecting something like that but I was not sure.

I thought about just place a index.htm redirecting to incio.htm but would not this hurt with SE when I will submit the site?

    Thanks,
    Attilio

you can edit it if he made a text file to go with it .It is a note pad and you can change the button text and links with it.Or if he made a html for you you can change it through that.If you don't have the note pad with it,try opening a note pad and tpying this in it and see if it works. What ever your .swf file is named.Name your text file the same thing but .txt
    for buttons
    &button1=whatever&
    &button2=about us&
    &button3=contact us&
and then for links to go with the buttons
    &link1=http://www.mexicocrafts.com/whatever/index.html&
    &link2=htttp://www.mexicocrafts.com/aboutus/index.html&
    and so on
now if you want the window to open in a new browser type this
    &win1=_blank&
    &win2=_blank&
and so on.If you want the window to open in the same broswer get rid of the _blank
If yo have text you want to change try this
    &text1=blah blah blah blah blah&
Let me know if you need some help and i will try and help you if this doesn't work
ps.if you want to change something to index.html
remember to go to your html file and the text file and rename it to

Thank you very much for your kind help ctn.

I do not have any TXT file going with the SWF ones and honestly I do not understand how should i use the text file you suggest to create.

I actually have one swf file for each site menu button and I would need to change just the link address embebbed in them.

Actually I found a visor who allows me to see the parameters of the SWF files but nothing that allows me to change the values.

I might just eliminate those buttons and place simple text links for site navigation, probaly less elegant but surely much more functional.

    Thanks anyway,
    Attilio

Like i said i don't know for sure if it will work depending on how he set it up,But if you have a swf file for each button. You would have to make a txt file for each swf file using windows note pad and then upload the txt file to the same place you have your swf file placed in your Hosting file manager. If you would like, you could send me one copy of your swf file and i could see if i could get it to work for you
you can email me at sales@readyeye.com
