    Hire a web developer?

I have no coding abilities and am wondering if I should hire a web developer to optimize my sites in order to sell for a profit. I know there are programs like dreamweaver, but I want top notch sites. Please share your opinions, thank you!

It depends on how you're trying to be competitive. You can just as easily install Wordpress or some other CMS on your sites, and focus on building good contents. There are tons of tutorials online about how to install a basic CMS like this, so you probably wouldn't need to hire a developer for that.

Knowing just Dreamweaver won't help you alot. You need a team or single developer with knowledge in:
    1) Designer - Photoshop Design, HTML, CSS
    2) Coder - PHP, javascript, SQL...

I recommend for serious business OOP PHP 5.3 Frameworks like for example Symfony2 with Doctrine2 ORM, jQuery Library

For low budget (below 1000$) you get stuck with WordPress...
In fact if you think to sell the whole website with the script I wouldn't pay too much if it's not custom built.
WordPress always comes cheap. There are themes for WP at 30-50$.

Are you talking about pretty sites with pretty names or sites that actually have some worthwhile/meaningful content and/or a product to sell?

If the former, then you would need a designer not a developer (in my experience, designers do the pretty stuff, developers do the programming).

I think if you are simply wanting to make "template" sites for some names you have registered, then any low cost CMS or template product would do the job.

Is there a market for such a thing? Don't buyers want sites with good content and/or products?
