How Do I Make Such A Website (Directory)?

Hi,

who knows how I can create a site like this one? Is it a kind of content management system? Is there some plugin for wordpress that makes creating a directory of local businesses easy?

It's very possible to do that using WordPress. Would have to be custom programmed with a lot of custom fields. You could also use something like phpLinkDirectory as well.

@fish: thanks for the info. What's your (ROUGH ESTIMATE) guess white price range are we talking about there? $50-200, $200-500 or more? And if I get that kind of thing customized for one wordpress blog, how easy will it be for me to set the same up for another domain myself? (the only difference would be name of the city, topic (e.g. instead of "schools in belgrade" it might be "hospitals in kinshasa") and it would be on another domain. (Sorry for the big chunk of questions).

Tony...semi-sorta off topic but related...if I'm developing a wordpress template, what is to keep people from just copying my template and changing the values to fit their needs? I see a lot of nice templates where people want $60-100 for, but it looks like they can just View Source from a working site and paste it, then change the value. Is there any way to protect my template?

yeah...hard to protect that...view source...copy/paste....edit colors/graphics...etc...and voila....a new template for the copycat...:(
