    Ideas on development

    Hi,

I hope this is the right thread to post in!!

If not can the moderator please move it to the correct thread please.

    I have a generic domain named cafes,co,uk

Here in the UK there are many many 1,000s of eat out cafes such as Subway, Cafe Rouge etc. There are also 1000's of other types of cafes such as internet/cyber cafes etc.

As there is no specific directory for cafes in the uk, I am thinking of having a directory developed with postcode search, contact details, menus, google maps, free listing and autoblog for visitors to leave reviews or comments.

Can anyone tell me if this is the right way to go or can anyone make good suggestions on what i should do with the domain.

    Thanking everyone in advance.

Great domain George and it sounds like a very good idea. I'd start with a website and then also get an iPhone/Android app made. Such a directory can benefit from mobile's GPS and also social networking linking (e.g. "George just checked in to Freddy's Pizza" on Facebook). This is the type of service that needs to be mobile. People _will_ be looking for cafes and restaurants mostly when they are already out of their homes.

    Go for it!

Yeah, nice name. I'd recommend doing what Stian has already suggested - start with a website, then iPhone/Android app.

To start with, you need to decide if it'll be a simple directory, if people can get discounts for checking in to the cafe, or if it'll be a full social network.

I'd be inclined to go for the directory, allow each cafe to host it's own page, allow them to edit their own page and use the iPhone/Android app idea to get clients to checkin to unlock discounts.
