There are tons of things called Oasis.
oasis music
oasis flights
oasis clothes
oasis drinks
oasis holidays
... It seems that most of the traffic is coming from people looking for clothes, flights and music. If I am to develop this site, what should it be? If possible I have to try to avoid some of the core categories above, as trademarks exist for the term in all of them. But at the same time I would like to appeal to the mindset of some of the visitors I am currently getting...
Any ideas appreciated...

Always looking to buy UK sites & domains making £100 + pm - pm anytime
I cannot agree, what value added would 50 - 100k outlay give the companies
Since the site makes £12k per year easily, and is pretty generic... I wouldn't consider a £50k even if one was made. I might sell for £150k, would rather develop though..
Earning and risk multiples you are way off at 150k
Well my fellow Bristolian, have you identified what getting most of the clickthrough? My first thought would be the womens wear. If affiliate and ppc aren't your bag, you'll have to start branding, whichever way you decide to develop it.

olebean - brand protection to some degree, traffic and a simple domain for users to remember on-pack. I get involved with a lot of onpack promos and the simpler the better. Plus £50-£100k - quite a large tax write down if handled as IP...what value added would 50 - 100k outlay give the companies
If it is also earning £12k that would shore up my estimation nicely... not sure anyone would pay £150k though as it is not like a definitive finance or business type domain where ROI would be much simpler.

all could add to potential buyers reasoning
Back back period 2 -3 years for most large companies, I cannot see any manager wanting to take "ownership" of the project for a longer period
Oasis is also popular british rock band![]()

I would develop an Oasis music fansite
Its a tough one James, you have Oasis the Band, The Drink and The Store. If I were you and you hired me I would develop it into a luxury travel portal or even some sort of health style holiday portal.

I say:
TRAVEL ALL THE WAY!
Travel is one of the biggest markets online and people are comfortable booking online.
Make it a content site with specific country destinations (i.e. islands and other tropical places). Add affiliate booking engines, adsense, amazon, etc.
IMHO
Domain development - SEO, Lead Acquisition, Quality Content & Design, CMS, Much More...
I say you try and sell it to Oasis stores or the drink company.
Oasis Clothing stores currently have: oasis-stores.co.uk advertised, hmmm.
I would imagine that most of the traffic is looking for the oasis band, as they are UK based... Aa fan site sounds great but I am not sure about the laws around it's monetization.
DNQuest has some fansites as he once mentioned, maybe he can advice you
actually most searches seem to be related to the clothes, or the ... wait for it... travel company (airline) ... which has not yet been mentioned.
Other searches are for healthcare products, (also called Oasis I believe), the band, the drink, the clothes, the butlins-type operator... and more.
Here's a novel idea, but it might backfire...
If there are really a LOT of different "Oasis" candidates (dozens and dozens) why not set up a simple portal page saying:-
Looking for Oasis the band? Click here...
Looking for Oasis the drink? Click here...
and so on. You could spruce it up a bit by e.g. serving the links in random order. Each link would take visitors to the "official" site.
That way, you'd subtly advertising the availability of the domain name (to anyone checking their server logs) while at the same time putting any potential claimant on notice that no, they don't have exclusive rights to the domain - after all, they can see all the other "claimants" right in front of them, listed alongside their own link.
Sure, you won't make much cash immediately, but it could be a good way to clinch a sale.
