    Importing site to Dreamweaver MX

    Hi.

I had a web designer create a site for me using DW MX.

I'd like to import the site directly from whitin DW MX to my computer ()without using an external ftp program).

Does anyone know how to do this?
I have 2 DW books, and I googled for it, and all I get is some export/import XML stuff, nothing about importing my site right into DW.
    Any help much appreciated!

    Thanks!

    Geia sou Seeker.

What version of DW are you using?

When creating a new DW "site" you have to enter FTP information. It's virtually the same thing. It's NOT like Frontpage that needs those funky extensions.

Anyhow, I noticed you said DW MX!

Go to Site > New Sites

Enter a name for the project and browse to the folder you want to use locally.

Select "Remote Info" from the dropdown on the same screen

    Select "FTP"

    Enter Host info (the domain)

Enter directory (if it's not in the public home directory on the remote server)

Enter Login & Password and click OK

    You'll then be able to:

Connect to the site & select the entire remote contents (just the incuding folder) and transfer them locally. Reversing the direction uploads the files back.

I hope this helps, send me a PM if needed.

    Geia sou re Theo!!!

    it looks like this works!
I am suing DW MX (not 2004). In pre MX eras, up to version 4, there was a site import that did this automatically.
But so far it looks like your methods works!

    Thanks!

    NP.

The MX version is really good; I used vers. 4 at work and compared to MX it was like day & night.

    See you in Athens!
