    SUP, dog!

I have not tried Drupal. I have used Joomla. It is my understanding that Joomla is a much steeper learning curve.

So I want to learn WordPress. Issues with that? Limitations?

    Teach me Joomla...and I'll teach u Wordpress....

I find Wordpress to be very customizable....easy to use/navigate.......sort of like a plug and play.....I'm interested in hearing about the other 2....Joomla or Drupal?....which produces a better looking site/design?

Whoa...I've only done one site. I like it but still some bugs to work out. So you don't need me teaching you. I taught myself in about three weeks time and totally redid a site of mine.

Many are pumping drupal so I also need to explore that.

Joomla has a larger development team behind it. However, it's roughly 4 to 6 weeks away from final version 1.5. The new version will have many improvements over 1.0.x

So if you're thinking about moving to Joomla for the experience, download and install 1.5 RC3 - otherwise, wait a bit more. There are some plugins and mods that don't work for the new version yet.

Thanks for the update. I had a couple other Joomla ideas in the works but will wait for this.

Definitely Joomla... the learning curve is not that bad.... hell even a caveman can do it. But seriously the back end is super and pretty much straight forward. Hell, I don't know a lick of code but found myself dabling with customizing stuff with it because the codes are well explained. It's just a great software with a helpful community.

1.5 RC3 is pre-final. For the technically minded, one can install and customize/run it now, then when final is released, you simply back up the database and perform a clean code install.

I used Drupal for one website but i didnt like it.
Joomla has better community and more extensions and templates available.
Drupal on the other hand is better in managing user groups and their acess levels(built in) and can support countless categorization structure(also built in) while Joomla can support only 3 levels; Sections-->Categories-->Items.

Joomla 1.5 is something we r all waiting for, though i dont believe that they will fix(not so soon) those issues.

I was waiting for Joomla 1.5 to be released before doing some projects. It's been quite a wait, so I might experiment with some other options in the next few weeks, before they finally release it.

It's good that they're not rushing things out before it's ready, so I hope it will be a secure and stable release.

I just made a little donation to them via PayPal, so maybe that'll help speed up the release.

i hear drupal is better for social networking, but i don't have any experience with it. i have community builder, joomla's primary community component installed on all my sites, but its there more for scalability in the future - i've yet to touch it, so I can't speak to its capabilities.

community builder is widely used in joomla community, lots of connectors to expand your social networking services.

Drupal just won the 2007 Open Source CMS award. Joomla came in second. Both are great content management systems.

I personally use Drupal for everything I do. (I like to be in full control and mess with lots of PHP) Social Networking is great with Drupal... Examples like MTV.co.uk & observer.com are great examples of what Drupal can do.

I do think Drupal is a higher learning curve. But if you have the skills (PHP skills) and the desire, you can use the Drupal platform to make anything you need.

But again, I stress, both are good CMS options. Each developer will have their preferences. Try them both out, and see which one works better for what you want. (They're both free)

    Good information, everyone.

I have done one site with Joomla www (.) ceuq (.) com and am still learning. Lots of bugs to work out. But have already had over 480,000 users this year.

Will be working on developing sponsors for this niche site.

So perhaps I should stick with something I am familiar with, even though I taught myself.
