    Merchant *HELP* :-D

    Hello,

I am looking for a merchant for my online store. I am currently in desperate need of a good credit card proccessor, I checked out 2checkout and they seem to charge 5.5% and thats too high. Can someone suggest some good merchants that they recommend.

    Thanks

2CO is a third party processor. Usually your customers are directed over to their processing page to capture credit card information.

Most merchant account processors charge a lot less & the merchant account is in your name. If you are in the United States, your options are wide open. What part of the country are you in?

If you anticipate your volume over $1,000 a month and in the United States, consider a merchant account. Btut if your volume is more along the lines fof about $500 a month and in the United States, 2CO is a better option

If you do not have at least a United States Bank account & address, it is pretty much impossible to get a United States merchant account.

In Canada, you have PSIGate or InternetSecure

Both of these will be able to help you & to accept payments from people that reside in the United States and Canada.

    Both seem like good options.

authorize.net you will need to find a reseller as they do not sell directly. Do not use charge.com

Not sure if they will work with you being in Canada but its worth a peek ... they have GREAT service and some of the lowest prices I have found (no minimums on sales) http://www.cdgcommerce.com/

    Re: Merchant *HELP* :-D

We actually work with CDG some - but they only support United States Merchants. Some of their requirements are:
Principal Signer (or Co-Signer) must be at least 18 Years
Business must have a U.S. Mailing Address
Business must have a U.S. Bank Account
Business must be an Acceptable Merchant Category

Authorizenet.com is only an electronic payment gateway. They are not a merchant account provider. You still need a provider to fully accept credit cards. An electronic payment gateway is similar to the point of sale terminal that you find in the commissary. It is basically the connectivity to First Data or Visa / MasterCard to help verify eligibility.

I cannot fully suggest Authorizenet.com in good conscious right now. We have been working with them for about one year also (reselling their gateway) and in that time, they have been down for about seven times due to DOS Attacks. LinkPoint gateway is one of the sturdiest gateways. The last time they had an outage was in January 2002 during a major upgrade.

If you are expecting monthly sales of $1,000+, don't use CO2 or PayPal. Have you talked to your branch manager (where you opened your commercial account)?
Profoundly influenced by #Bauhaus, @Nameslave unrepentantly embraces #Minimalism in his #multimedia portfolio. His early works include an experimental adaptation of Chekhov’s Cherry Orchard inspired at least partly by Robert Fripp. His totally irrelevant M.Ed. dissertation examines Organizational Culture and Change Management.

    Re: Merchant *HELP* :-D

That might work - but being in Canada, the rates are a little more expensive. I am hoping that it is ok to place here: http://www.comparemaps.com/calculate.asp (the site is still under construction - but the calculator works).

In the United States, if you are selling something that is about $25 with 40 transactions, you are looking at about 6.59% total. With that same about, using 2CO, you might be spending 7.7%.

Plus depending on your customers, consider having Paypal added in conjunction to a merchant account (or even 2CO)
