mysql now offer two certification courses
mysql core - (manipulating the database, understanding databases layout and how they are put together)
mysql advanced - (optimising queries, mysql implementation strategys, table types, security etc)
i'm interested what the professional web designers/programmers think of these kind of accolades and would they actually be of any use in the business world?
because of my career path into software development (I started at 17 as an apprentice with no experience other than above average general pc knowledge) i feel its probably a good idea to pad my cv as it will become more and more difficult to move up in the ranks later on in life (i have 5 years experience now but its nice to keep your skills up to date).
i know i would walk the core certification and with a little study i could pass the advanced. these are both fairly low-priced at around $160 each and i'm thinking it would make a nice addition to my cv. just thought i'd ask those that actually do web-dev fulltime for their input.

Good question. I also want some opinions on this
