Need Advice for my forum - what should i do? - DNForum - Domain Sales, Domain Forum, Domain Appraisals, Domain Registrars

i have a bit of a dilemma. Im thinking about buying a ravio skin for my forum www.webmasterads.com, but im not sure if its a good idea or not - help me out here folks

the one im thinking about is the loginskin at http://www.vbskins.com/demo/indexlogi.htm

Pros
* Its only $30.00
* The design is very impressive and projects a professional image of the site
* it will save me a lot of time - plus the design is much better than i could ever do

Cons
* Many ravio skins out there
* Likelihood of other forums using the same skin.

p.s. im swinging more towards getting the skin at the moment

I agree that it is a nice skin and the cost aint to bad niether, hmm...

I think the colors are to "hot".
Try to look more on that skin, and you will find that orange is to spicey for an eye of a user who is focused on forum threads. Since the content is king on a forum, and also users spend a lot of time on this, will be better for them to see combination of light, cold colors (blue, gray) who will not affect the eye and who will create a balanced look and feel.

Buy a skin you like, and edit it to make it your own. This way, the majority you already like, but a little fine tuning, and its your own custom look.

free skins arent up to much and there are always dozens of forums with the same skin as you

good point with the colours customb and i agree with do - i know the vb template system very well as ive been using it for a year and a half so ill get a skin and modify it a little though there isnt too much modification needed in these scripts

i cant do anything til the weekend anyways but ill probably make a start on it then

additional question : to remove their copyright license is $40.00 - do you think this is worth it - or a complete waste of money

yeah - you cant remove the skin by vbskins.com part of the design unless you pay the $400.00

i dont mind other forums having the same skin - as long as the sites arent in the same genre - ie. i dont want other webmaster forums having this skin - but who cares if a games forum does
