Need Help Creating a Vbulletin board, no clue - DNForum - Domain Sales, Domain Forum, Domain Appraisals, Domain Registrars

Hi,
I want to create a new message board for a hobby I like. I've got a good domain name, but I have no clue how to set up a Vbulletin board site. Where is a good place to host it? And how do I create cool skin? Any help is appreciated!

vb has an option to install it for you (for $135).
as for skins, you can post in the wanted section, there are many talented vb skin designers here (and many can install it for you for MUCH cheaper).

for a host, there are too many places to mention if you dont have your own server.

Get leased, then hosting from MyExpressHost.com. They will install for you. As for skins, you will have to hire someone if you don't yet know how.

A good place for vBulletin-related resources would be vBulletin.org.

for looking at what you want to do id not pay for a forum look at

its free and every bit as good i use it on several adult sites, if you need it installed ill do it for you cheaply then its up and running you can add different mods to it like these forums you can upload attatchments

Yes, phpBB is good too, esp. for personal/hobby sites; and some hosts offer one-click install for it so you only need to customize it using the web admin panel.

Is this site of yours meant as more of a personal board or a commercial board? If it's personal and just for fun, phpBB will be fine, but if you are looking to make a buck, it's worth the extra money vB will cost upfront. It is much better and much more secure than phpBB..

If you're looking for a free board, use http://simplemachines.org, it's much more developed then phpBB. Also IPB, IMO, is much better then vBulletin, if you're going to buy board software.

My understanding is that phpBB is the second most supported (by user community and peripheral add-on's like skins and hacks) forum script out there only after vBulletin, isn't it?

actually I think phpbb is the first when it comes to community and user support and hacks.
that doesnt mean it is the best of course.
