A "comp" in the UK is not the same as a "comp" in the US; there are linguistic differences. All names are long-winded. I suggest coming up with a short name or buying one for that purpose.

I need a little help on deciding which of the following names to actually develop and buy webspace for. I will mainly use wordpress with adsense to feature free to enter competitions. I just can't decide which is the best name to buy the webspace for? names are
freetoentercompetitions.co.uk
freetoentercompetitions.com
freetoentercomps.com
freetoentercomps.co.uk
entercomps.com
entercomps.co.uk
I am British (although I am in australia at the moment) and was swaying towards the freetoentercomps.co.uk name. Then if that becomes successful I could add an american version at freetoentercomps.com without having to mess with the uk content if had I used the .com first, if any of this makes sense? Or would it be better just to go with the .com for uk stuff in any case?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated
richie

cheers for that acro. Yes I can see that it is probably really crap name for american sites, so maybe just concentrate on the uk and use the .com, maybe even just the entercomps.com??
freecomps is redundant in the USA, because comps means complimentary (i.e., free) tickets and samples. If it's a comp then of course it's free.
UpgradeThat.com -- upgrade your computers, motherboards, disks, memory...
ChevyDealer.net -- great deals on new and used cars
PlayboysBest.com -- 'nuff said
All of those names totally stink. I would advise digging deeper into your pockets and acquiring a real domain. Best of luck..
Really kind, thoughtful and encouraging advice there acquisition, many thanks from a new domainer. Think I will go and learn the guitar before travelling to vegas....
i have brandable domains you can use, send me a pm with a budget
I PM'd you some names that can still be registered, and that are better and shorter than what you were considering. Never heard back but hope you got the PM and find it helpful.

All the good advice has been said here but just wanted to add some info in case you decide to use one of your domains.
You can run your domain keywords through google's keyword tool and the external adwords tool (traffic estimator). You will see minimal search traffic although there's some advertiser competition.
The best keywords in your list seem to be 'free to enter competitions' but if you decide to develop your site based on those keywords, you will still have a hard time attracting visitors and need a lot of inbound links.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Keywords Approx Avg Search Volume
[free to enter competitions] 73
[enter comps] Not enough data
[free to enter comps] 12

cheers
