I just won a domain from the after market: Healthyfoodsecrets.com, Let me know what your thoughts are on the domain and the potential for development please. I have a business plan in mind but I am always open to positive criticism and ideas. Fairly new to domaining and appreciate any feedback, Thanks a lot!

Healthy Food is easy to cover but now you need to find it's secrets or atleast give them something they didn't know.

By the way, great name. I like the way its structured. HealthyFood - HealthyFoods - FoodSecret - FoodSecrets. These are good keywords by itself.

Do Wordpress.

i would suggest setting up a wordpress blog with a custom header and layout and posting articles and more on it. monetize with long term partnerships with like-minded sponsors such as Flavorbean Coffee Company, which is the first chemical solvent free flavored coffee. Add adsense as well. Trade links with other blogs..

Good tips from HuntingMoon, but I must question one...re. Flavorbean. Flavored coffee is not my idea of a particularly healthy food...and despite their health conscious image, Flavorbean seem to use artificial flavourings, they use the term 'actual flavor' not 'natural flavor' to describe them.. watch out for such marketing techniques! At least they do have some organic products in their range, which benefit from being free of harmful pesticide and fungicide residues present in many conventionally farmed products.

How about having a forum on your site so people can get into arguments about coffee, post healthy food tips etc?

Now comes the 'Secret' part;
What about food/recipes from different locations around the world that haven't been 'discovered' by the masses yet and put them in a WP blog as Hunting Moon suggested?

the biggest problem you face it that it is not great niche as far as making money. there are a million recipe / healthy food sites out there, and there isn't a natural money maker from it (ie, people who are there aren't there to buy anything specific)

Don't forget to add some Healthy Food Recipe ideas, including secret ingredients they won't find anywhere else on the web.

I would add, focus on spices (somewhere on the site).

There are so many things about spices that people just don't know.
They do more than taste good. They have many beneficial health properties.
Some even have "negative" affects when mixed with each other.

Nice name, needs development to bring real value.

I would agree with most everyone on here starting with wordpress as the cms, flexibility and use-ability is great once you get the hang of it. Easy to customize and create templates. Here is a wordpress site I have been working on myself, http://usasaveauto.com not to shabby huh!!

What I would do if this were my domain is create a content rich site that search engines would eat up, with a lot of strategic sponsor placement of ppc, rev share and product referrals. Gear your articles and blog towards your sponsors and link to the sponsors from the articles. You can find content writers for very inexpensively via GetAFreelancer or here DNForum, I use UN: myst woman from DNForum. Get them to write a handful of original 150 - 250 word cliff hanger articles for you and you add them the the site to keep the content fresh and updated, as well lean on some automated rss feeds of sorts to fill in the blank spots of the site, preferred monetized rss feed if you can find it for this niche.

Build it up with traffic and 1 way links in 1 years time you can flip it for a very profitable amount, or you may decide not to cause you have good revenue coming in from monetizing it with sponsors and products.

Little tangent guys, sorry. Dont know if you have noticed and I cant think of the examples off the top of my head at the moment. Lately on TV commercials I have noticed a increasing number of branded companies with branded websites are acquiring domains names that are catchy for national multi media advertisement campaigns.

I can envision a large company like "Kraft" purchasing a domain name like this "HealthyFoodSecrets.com" because it has traffic and has a memorable ring that you will remember whether it is in print ad, radio jingle or tv comercial.

It's probably not as good as your idea, I thought of this half baked idea in a matter of 75 seconds +/- a second.

From the hip thats what I got, what do you think, am I a little out there for you.....lol!

I would use Joomla or ControlNuke. Keywords to to Google better and has a betetr magazine look and feel. Aren't we all wordpressed to death?

This is a tough niche to make money in, so I would only do it if you are really interested in it. If you are just building a site because you have the domain, go after a niche with more opportunity.
