    osCommerce Customization...

    any input is more than appreciated...looking to customize an osCommerce shopping cart for a client, and i'm have a couple of questions pertaining to how some things are done...first and foremost, how do you retain a constant size (width), i assume its something with the overall table size within the css? what is the easiest way to set that - for example if i want the site to be 800 pixels wide? also, is it safe to assume that the css contols most all of the overall look of the site...i have seen some pretty amazing examples of osCommerce backed sites that have great graphics design (backgrounds) and where all the content is custom placed on the site, not as the out of the box left-hand and right-hand sides with the middle obligated to main content...don't want to get too lengthy with this, so i'll just let the input (hopefully) begin to flow...any suggestions and or places of research would most greatful!!

    thanks to all (in advance)!

    Re: osCommerce Customization...

    I have found the easiest way to change width is to change it all to 100% as that way it will fill all screens. That is done through the /includes/header.php file.
    If you want to remove the right hand column
    delete this about 3/4 down on all pages you dont want to appear
    <!-- right_navigation //-->
    <?php require(DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'column_right.php'); ?>
    <!-- right_navigation_eof //-->

    Any basic changes to standard text, or appearance can also be done through the /includes/languages/english.php file

    How are you charging your client?

    I tell the client it is free and then charge per module $250 each it is pretty easy to get it up to 10 or 15. eg credit.freight, affiliates, custom discounts, etc
    Because that is when it really gets tricky.
