PlayTHeFish

Hi everyone,

I recently reg. PlayTheFish dot com, and have three possibilities of how I should develop it. Please choose your favorite, and if you can, elaborate a bit on why... If you think they're all good or bad , say so too. And if you have other ideas, I'd appreciate your direction!

So, in no order, my top 3 PlayTheFish:

1) Poker. Fish in poker = really bad players. I have made quite a bit of cash on playing and targeting bad poker players (~40k over a few years). Basically I can talk about how I did that playing heads-up poker . Although my stats aren't as impressive for multi-player tables, I can do the research for non-heads up. Also, reviews on "fishiest" poker sites, etc..

2) Play the Fish .. "in the sea" .. so this can be developed into a "how to play the game" in dating, the art of "picking up". Plentyoffish really mainstreamed the expression, so why not "play the fish".

3)And lastly, a site about fishing ... when exact phrase search on google reveals this is a popular fishing expression.

Thanks for giving the read, I'd love to hear if my ideas are hot, or not.

As you mentioned, it sounds too similar to plentyoffish, and for that reason, you would probably want to build anything BUT a dating site...

Of the 3 ideas you put forth, I'd say go with poker if you really like the name - develop what you know. Better sites come from people who know their topic and gaming advertisements/affiliate programs can be quite lucrative for some people.

Too many dating sites. It's not going to be easy to promote another dating site, with the word "fish" in it. Plenty of fish is very popular, do you think you can somehow compete with it? It's highly unlikely. Plus...If you assume that fish are people. Then..you are playing the "people" aka "fish".

Not a great way to start off a dating site.

Because they are trademarked, and although your name isn't a typo per se, it could be argued down the road that it is "confusingly similar"

And yes, as theinvestor mentioned, there's a zillion dating sites out there.. too much competition, and to bring up another name that's like a hundred others won't help you build your brand.

Ever hear of the book called "the game , penetrating the secret society of pickup artists"?

I was thinking that PlayTheFish would echo more on those lines, not just a reg. dating site .. just wanted to clarify, but i do understand your point.

Thanks! any other suggestions?

Now that you mention that J0sh. Maybe Playthegame would be a better dating site then

You are not limited in what you do, just try to think of something outside the dating game.
