subdomain script

Hi,

I guess this is a question for the programmers on the forum.

I am looking into the possibility of getting a script created but not sure if it is actually possible.

What the script would have to do is look at a subdomain which is typed in eg. internet.domain.com, and parse the "internet" subdomain bit off the domain name.

This would then be used for various functions within the page, and to customise that page for that particular subdomain.

(the word eg."internet" would also have to be split up into its respective letters i,n,t,e,r,n,e,t and each one should call up an image)

I suppose the script would really have to act as a 404 page for subdomains, as it would not be any set subdomains that would be typed in.

Any idea is its possible even with these vague details.

I guess the main question is can a script be used as a 404 type page for subdomains? (excluding www.domain.com) Would that be considered as a subdomain?

Thanks

There's actually scripts and software out there already, like this one:

emm.....interesting

I'm not sure thats exactly what it may be able to be suited to my needs.

I had a look around hotcripts and couldnt find any similar ones.

If i could use this, would it be possible to construct a script to parse the un-cloaked url
eg.

website.domain.com (cloaked)
would be the same as
www.domain.com/website (uncloaked)

Actually come to think,it might not work.

What i need is a script to create a dynamic page. None of the subdomains that the users type in will actually exist, simply need a script to create a dynamic page based on the subdomain.

eg. if a user typed in website.domain.com,

a dynamic page would be created using this script. It woud prse the url (in this case website.domain.com) and obtain the subdomain, which could then be used to personalise the new, dynamic page.

Does that make sense?
