tips to monetize product related domain?

I'm sure there are threads that have covered this thoroughly, but I wasn't able to locate them with the search feature. I apologize if this is a waste of your time, I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to development/SEO.

I own a product related .com that has about 5K exact monthly searches with a avg CPC of about $1.50 and relatively low competition. I don't have enough time or knowledge to run a full-fledged e-commerce site, but I have enough experience with said product to put together some informative content to the average consumer.

I attempted to develop this domain on my own by setting up a keyword-heavy lander page and a forum related to buying/selling the product, but was not very pleased with the result and currently have it parked again. My goal for this domain is to get ranked and hopefully generate enough traffic to make some money from ppc programs like adsense or chitika, and eventually to sell advertising to vendors.

I am willing to pay to have it developed but would greatly appreciate any advice that you guys could give. Developers, feel free to PM me if you think this is a worthwhile project for you and we can discuss rates.

Better idea.

Find a site that has the product your domain is a keyword for with an affiliate program.
Simply 301redirect the site to another site with a meta-refresh that contains your affiliate link to the site with the products for sale.

You get your affiliate commissions, they get traffic, and they can't figure out where it comes from either, which means that can't attempt to jack your site away from tyou.
