Using a dummies.com to sell for dummies product - is it a violation?

If I register for example, keyboardfordummies-com

and add the book keyboard for dummies using amazon - would that be a violation? to sell the product?

I am not sure about a violation of Amazon's TOS, but this is a highly TM's and Copyrighted term.

Using ForDummies in the title of anything might get a C&D.

Yep - the "dummies" books are all TM'ed - if you use the domain (keyword)fordummies.tld to sell the relevant books - that is infringement.

i did a search on other (keyword)fordummies and noticed owners promoting products related to the keyword, but not the book related to dummies..

so can i use the (keyword)fordummies.com for example to promote (keyword) related products?

Technically no - they are infringing especially if it is geared towards training on those keywords.

Others promoting, using, etc does not make it right.

Honestly? chances are nothing will ever happen and you will not get caught.

Results 1 - 10 of about 18,100,000 for "for dummies".

The only things to consider are this...if you are caught,

do the benefits outweigh the risk of being caught?

Also, if you have a name in mind, or a product, that is a hot, hot topic but NOT a book yet, what are the chances of it becoming a book and someone going after you?
