The vBulletin Thread

As of yesterday I jumped on the vB bandwagon and bought a license.

I'm now working on customising it to suit my needs so i thought i would create this thread so anybody in the same position as myself can ask a few questions of some of you veteran vB users (i know you're out ther )

feel free to add your questions and answers in here.

Question 1. does anyone know of a vBulletin site that sells professional looking templates? I'm looking for a fancy design but i dont want it to have that 'anime/gaming' look to it that most available skins have. I ideally want to spend $50 or less but would like to see the quality of any you find that may cost more.
and they can be either 1-offs (i.e. i own the design after) or mass-produced (i buy a copy of the design)

Question 2. what in your opinion are your must-have hacks?

you probably wouldnt get anything great for $50.00

you can spend weeks sknining a vb board

vbskins is a good place to get you started with and will help you get used to the tempates etc

fonz do you know anywhere that does ready-made skins for more than $50.

$50 is all i have at the moment but if i see a perfect one i may put off skinning it until i have the extra cash.

also vbskins is ok i like their platinum skin but they are still too much like a gaming site with the sci-fi images... i want something that looks clean but at the same time has some style/individuality to it...

you should be picky - no one wants their board to look like everyone elses

http://www.ravio.com are the best imo but they are expensive - they are a cut above the rest though

mess around with it yourself a little bit
i skinned my board myself - it aint great or anywhere ravios standard but its different and thats what i wanted
