I am new to development world.

Would anyone guide me what can be achived using wordpress other than blog posting. Can I develop a complete website using wordpress? and design it the way I want? What kind of design felxibility it provides?

Does wordpress support user logins? Can users post content?

I know there are lot of plugins you can use with wordpress for special tasks but have not used any so not aware of there functionality. I just saw in other post that you can also add forums to worpress. Great!

Please also point to any sources of information you know of like good templates, plugins and information to all above questions?

I think your best option is using and testing. you can create both static and dynamic pages, with users logging on and commenting. There are loads of templates, and you can play with them to get the desired look you want. There are many plugins as well.
