I think you will need to pay for a PPC script.. i think you can get one at www.hotscripts.com i think they might be very costly :-D

I would have to disagree with Dark One. To be well known you need something different. You need to have a custom program that will stand out from the rest.

Re: Starting an PPC like AdSense.

In 3-4 years there will be only 3 PPC programs and they'll be grouped around Google, Yahoo and MSN. Reason is that only they have large enough audience and can run distribution networks like AdSense. So, how would you attract advertisers to your PPC site and customers to click on their ads? By paying for AdWords or by purchasing Overture content ads?

I agree in that you will need an extremely large audience to yield even decent results with a program like that. I would first focus on setting up some kind of search engine type site that will attract the kind of audience which will advertise with you. The audience and desire to place those kind of competitve ads on your site is the main goal, so you won't get very far without at least having the audience first.

Re: Starting an PPC like AdSense.

I agree... the biggest issue is click fraud. Even Google, with all it's resources fights an ongoing battle for click fraud...

As an advertiser, I have extreme reservations about putting money in any of the second tier ad programs (other than Adwords and Overture)... just because I would need to see real conversions and not just clicks...

That's just the security aspect - after that, how do you develop decent targeting, keyword analysis, geotargeting, clickpath analysis. The beauty of a program such as Adsense is the high relevancy of ads...

A few years ago, there was a promising opensource project for TextAds, but the project doesn't seem to have been continued and the latest release dates from 2002... I would be concerned that click fraudsters have already identified easy exploits for any text ad software that hasn't been maintained on a regular basis.

    Hope this helps,

    Rob

I agree - YPN and Adsense will be the main players in this industry. I saw that Ah-ha.com changed their name, but how long before they all go under... Including that crazy program at 7search.com. I lost so much from them.

Re: Starting an PPC like AdSense.

i agree with kodeking and fp1. you will need a large audience first if you want to get off the ground. then you will need something new and different. there are alot of adsense copycats out there. and why would they use your ppc over google adsense. most people who dont use adsense were probably either booted for one reason or another or dont have the propper content to support contectual ads in general.

what you need is a gimmik. like a prize program. something that both advertisers and publishers can get in on. something like the $F we get here. they can use the points to cash in. just make it so the prize system is alot to work towards but not out of reach.

    just a thought....

Re: Starting an PPC like AdSense.

    Hi
To start anything like adsense is not easy. Its google who has done it. We cannot siply just get a script, a domain name and start. It needs alot of money and time to be anyway near to even one tenth of adsense. I am not discouraging you but in my opinion we should invest our time and energy for new ideas rather than trying to copy a very big already successful idea or business.
    Thanks

What I was actually thinking, was, doing something that had different types of Ads, such as CPC and also, it would display Amazon ads with your associate ID, so you would have a mixture of CPC and affiliate type ads, sort of diversifying.

But I have sense noted that it would be a very hard field to break into.

Re: Starting an PPC like AdSense.

You would need a hugh investment to get big in this industry, but if you were not concerened with being big, then a program that would help a few friends and the word of mouth COULD make you big, but it is a big gamble

I too have an idea for starting a Ad network but in a somewhat niche market.

It will be restricted to certian sites only which are into the catagory,do you believe that this is possible everyone?

I think these work very well, however, you will need to spend lots of cash on advertising, and creating a top notch looking web-site. BTW, are you willing to let us know what the market is?

Minimum of 7k would be needed to spend.

    But its easy.

All the guy needs is time and the market to advertise which is pretty hard.

Ok my small rundown of the idea(I know its not greatest but please don't flame me):

1.Only for gaming sites:Strict requirements to get in,such as if its content driven new content once a week.If its a forum maybe 5-10 new posts a week(This requirement may go up)
2.Nothing on Warez,ROM etc etc Sites,Not allowed on Arcade sites. Not like Adsense where only one site has to be approved every site you put it on has too.
(I know this is al a bit strict but hopefully sites that might just commit click fraud might be weeded out.)

Now I see a market for Ebay affiliates,People selling MMORPG accounts, currency, game sotres, mostly smaller websites and such.
Now the CPC starts very low, maybe 1-2 cents, but seeing how targetted the ads are to the websites they are put on may generate more clicks leading to more proffit.

Thats all I can think for now.But I am wondering I could start this on a small scale and see how it runs, any ideas about that?

Re: Starting an PPC like AdSense.

I think the main problem is getting adverisors. If I was interested in building this sort of program, I would suggest that a large percent of your investment money would be into getting top name gaming sites. Once you have good advertisors, you should easily gain a nice cliental of publishers with good advertising, however, to gain initial credibility you will need top name sites, which would mean according to my suggestion, that you should actually be subsidising their advertising. This is actually a common marketing practice in stores, shopping malls, getting some good clients to persuade other future clients.

I honestly think if your ointerested in persuing this you really need a nice capital investment. Otherwise you will be one of thousands of these sites.
