Announcement: Big Change to our Showcase

Hi All,

There's a new feature going online soon and I wanted to give you a heads up.

I'm happy to report a major upgrade to the showcase that adds value and convenience.

The new showcase will rotate every time the homepage is loaded. This means:

Domains can be added much sooner. You should normally only have to wait a day after your order is processed for your showcased name to debut.

Its a random rotation so your domain will appear on the homepage throughout the 30 days its featured there.

Another improvement is ability to add to multiple sites for just $10 extra, or $69 for all sites (sedo.com, sedo.co.uk, sedo.de, esedo.com, sedo.fr).

The new showcase system is scheduled to go online tomorrow. If there's any delay I'll make a follow up post.

The first day my listing goes live and I don't even get a day on the front page..........somewhere in the middle of the second page.. ..in all fairness I just got off the phone with Tim and he explained how it will rotate .... it'll probably helps the domains listed prior to the change than the new listings though the new listings today will be the old listings tommorow

Lets do some math..
386 Featured listings
13 displayed per hour on the homepage..
386/13=30 Rotation cycles per block of names
720 hour per month 720/30 = 24 hours random homepage listings per domain??..
So every featured listed domain will be displayed for one hour every 30 hours for a total of 24 one hour featured homepage listings??
Obviously this will change as more names are added and deleted

You are welcome to correct any inaccuracies with my math

sedo's logic here is flawed. Let me explain why. the problem here is any domain name whether it is suitable for showcase or not is allowed to be listed as showcase for 36 euros (last time ti was this or around this amount). So sedo accepts any domain including craps to be listed showcase and this also kills the real generic domains in showcase to stand up. Which one is better? Earn 36 euros times 400 names which brings 14400 euro per month or sell 10 domains with high sale value and earn 10 percent commission.

When someone submits a name to showcase a SEDO expert should look at the name and make a first selection whether the name is really showcase or not. If it is not it is not allowed to be listed. Also just accept 50 showcase name per month.

i agree with some of your points, but who would be considered an expert, to grant acceptance or not.

granted, there should be some standards.

last time i paid for a "showcase" spot, i think i saw my name maybe once or twice, during the campaign.

yea its good idea to filter the names and publish just the ones that meet certain criteria.

We've also seen a big jump in traffic to our site so each hour is worth a lot more exposure than it used to be.

Yes it's all us checking if our showcase domain is there.

If you want to change the Showcase you should try and make it transparent. Sell random impressions and also use geotargeting.

as you can see it is very easy. It took my 30 secs to sort them and I am sure an expert at SEDO would do better than me.
