Some of you may have just started noticing so I just wanted to take this opportunity to inform you of some new features on our website. After taking member comments and feedback into consideration, our team has updated the "Offer Details" page with new tools that will benefit both buyers and sellers.
These updates include:
• A new, easier to read page design
• Seller's Value Added Tax status (if you are a buyer or seller based in the US, VAT does not apply to your transaction. VAT may apply if the seller is trading as a company which is VAT-liable, in European countries. If you are a seller trading as an individual, sales tax does not apply.)
• Month and year the seller created a Sedo account
• Seller's Activity Index on a scale of 1-5. The Seller Activity Index considers a member's transaction history and sales volume for transactions where the member was a seller.
• Buyer's Activity Index on a scale of 1-5. The Buyer Activity Index considers a member's transaction history and sales volume for transactions where the member was a buyer. The Buyer Activity Index, VAT status, and the month and year the buyer created an account will be available to a seller once negotiations begin.
• Amount of time domain has been listed at Sedo
Additionally, sellers now have the option to include links to offer pages of other domains they are selling or link to their entire portfolio through the offer description. Sellers can use this new feature to mention similar domains that may also be of interest to a buyer. In response to members' requests, buyers can now submit comments to the seller with their initial offer.
At Sedo our members' privacy is of the utmost importance. As always, your name and personal information will remain confidential and will not appear anywhere on our site. Our team is continually working to improve our website user experience.
We hope you will find the Offer Details Page updates helpful!
Any questions, feel free to send me a PM.
Thanks,
Monica
All I get is a blank page when I try to open any domain offering page.
Edit: Now it works. Had to clear my cache.![]()

Wow...what are you trying to do, sedo, a myspace style profile of sellers? Do you realize a lot of us DO NOT want extra info to be disclosed about when we joined sedo and star rating and "domain listed since..."? What's next, adding sellers as buddies? Do you want to create a lot of legal groundwork for future disputes? If that's the case, let us have a turn off feature asap!!! Also, the blurb for each offer page is now truncated, leading to a "View full description" layer. Don't you know that most people WILL NOT click on such a link but want to skim the description instead? This has the potential of costing us sales.
Ridiculous! You even list the country of origin. This is NOT good news folks. All it takes for someone that wants to extract further info is to sign up with Sedo and start gathering domain owners' profiles.

sedo,
I want this feature turned off IMMEDIATELY with regards to my account. It's a violation of my privacy via the disclosure of sufficient data that can be used in a direct, identifiable manner. I don't want to socialize on sedo grounds, nor to offer my info to any bozo that joins Sedo to gather cumulative information. It's a slap in the face to those of us that have supported Sedo through your lowest of times. This feature is a ticking bomb.
You have 24 hours to turn it off for my account.
https://sedo.com/about/policy.php?pa...d=&language=us - There's the link to the privacy complaints page for those that choose to file a complaint.
By the way - I think it is a very bad idea and consider it a violation of privacy.

File a privacy complaint? Hell, I will not only file one but I will be calling Matt Bentley directly. I will also blog about it and will be issuing a press release. Next step will be the removal of all of my domains from sedo and the cancellation of my account. This is pure bullshit.
Hey - I think you will agree that a huge amount of email privacy complaints also will get the job done pretty quick. I've sent mine.
Ha.... Heres an update - sedo's privacy email addy listed is bouncing back

I just got off the phone with sedo. Twice I was patched through to the wrong voice mail while trying to reach Monica Abraham. I spoke with Stephanie who could not take the heat of my message to sedo.
In a nutshell:
Stephanie told me that the feature cannot be turned off per account, that it has been a decision by the project management to turn the feature on after "lots of testing".
I told Stephanie that I want my data deleted from their database upon closure of my Sedo account. She said this won't happen as "federal regulations" require them to keep it.
This is bullshit.
Sedo, my goal from now on will be to expose your hypocrisy and complete disregard to your customers. I will blog, publish and notify the media of the ways you have chosen to expose our data to third parties and the way that you insist to keep our data hostage in your database.
I will lobby for others to leave your service. There are plenty of alternatives.
Edit: Finally made it to Miss Monica's voicemail. Monica, I hope to hear back from you - please give me a call. It's important to resolve this issue before it escalates further.

I just noticed that I can click on an auction and see all of the domains that the seller owns and has with sedo? I do not like this one bit.

Please post a link, I cannot see this one.
I can't see any of this new stuff
Hello,
I’d like to follow-up with some of the issues brought up here. As mentioned above, one of the main purposes for listing the country on the updated offer pages is in response to member’s comments and feedback wanting the seller’s country of origin displayed for tax purposes.
Viewing the seller’s country of origin is important in determining the ultimate transaction fee of a domain transfer. This not only adds more transparency in the marketplace but allows for more frequent and successful sales, as now buyers and sellers can negotiate fair sales with the tax in mind.
Please keep in mind that there is nothing personally identifiable at all in the new offer pages, including the new activity index. If anything, this new index should improve seller and buyer communication and draw more interest and subsequent offers to our five star sellers, many of whom comment on this forum. In addition, there has been no privacy breach involved in these new offer pages as per Sedo’s Terms of Use.
With regards to the privacy@sedo.com email address, we apologize that it’s down at the moment. Please continue to forward those inquiries to contact@sedo.com and we’ll ensure that they’re funneled to the appropriate department. Privacy@sedo.com should be up and running shortly.
You can also choose not to display a link to your sales portfolio on your offer page.
1. Under “My Sedo”, click on “Domain Management.”
2. Find the domain to be edited and click on the domain name within the list.
3. Under the third section entitled “Link to your Sales Portfolio”, locate the box marked “Do not display the link to my entire portfolio.”
4. Choose whether or not to link to your sales portfolio for the listed domain.
5. Choose whether or not to apply this setting to all of your domains.
6. Click “Save changes”.
Hope that clarifies. Lastly, I apologize I missed your call Acro as I was away from my desk. Feel free to PM or call back.
Thanks,
Monica

Monica, as a 5-star seller I want my profile turned off. Thanks. I will leave it up to the others to decide whether their privacy is at stake. I don't want my domains to show when they were listed on sedo, nor when I joined sedo, or where I am at. If you don't understand the reasons why I am asking this, then you need to talk to your legal department.

The "Activity Index" feature has to go. The ratings suggest some measure of quality while it is really a measure of quantity, which obviously is irrelevant. This suggestion is emphasized by the use of stars.
The transaction volume for someones account is of nobody's business, does not add value and can only do unnecessary harm to sellers with low transaction volumes.
Rating buyers and sellers this way is highly unprofessional because both sellers and buyers have only limited influence on their ratings.
sedo : think before you act.
Please PM me or post in this thread what procedure I should follow to have this ridiculous and misleading rating removed.
This is not eBay. Why did sedo make a change and not ask anyone?
Not to mention that a lot of domains that contain WHOIS privacy are now exposing the locale of their owners once parked at sedo.
Seriously, did you think this adds value to the transaction? If all you wanted was a calculator of tax, VAT and whatnot for your brokers, you should have set it up internally.
These features may be do more harm than good if there is no opt-out possible.
Our privacy is being ignored.
Besides, it's still possible to list domain portfolios if you know the user name
http://www.sedo.com/search/searchresult.php4?showuser=[username]
I would like sedo to do something about it instead.
NameNewsletter.com - free lists of available domain names
ZoneFiles.net (beta) - ccTLD and gTLD droplists
I personally take issue with showing how long the domain has been listed at sedo. No one needs this information. We move our domains between parking companies dependent upon which service seems to generate the best revenue even if we've owned them since the 90's.
Did stats for the domain go away? I don't see them anymore.
BackAlley.com Backhole.com BlackAfricans.com BrownWomen.com Breathers.com & More!
If you have to explain what your domain name means, give up, it's a crappy name!
