SEDO landing page redirects to BuyDomains.com ? WTF???

I was interested in brokerescrow.com, so I typed in the name and landed on a page that seemed to be monetized by sedo. It looked like a typical sedo landing page, the title said sedoparking.com - brokerescrow.com info ... blah blah blah...

The URL also belongs to sedo:
    http://www.sedoparking.com/showparking.php4?domain=brokerescrow.com&rel_key=b roker+escrow%0D

So I click on the "More details..." link(that has the SEDO logo right under it, as always), and like we are all used to, I expected to land to the domains price and traffic info.

But NO.... I instead landed on BuyDomains.com. This is strange.... I then ran a whois on brokerescrow.com

    Registered through: GoDaddy.com, Inc. (http://www.godaddy.com)
    Domain Name: BROKERESCROW.COM

    Domain servers in listed order:
    NS.BUYDOMAINS.COM
    THIS-DOMAIN-FOR-SALE.COM

What is going on? This is too weird...

I thought BuyDomains is a SEDO's competitor. It belongs to NameMedia that also owns Afternic.... What am I missing?

Unusual ... Buydomains originally had an "exclusive" with afternic before the merger/buyout .... only months ago

    Hi

Another strange sedo parked page is:

    www.pasajes.eu

It is a framed page, and in the top frame a link to Ovidio Ltd. presentation.

    Do you remember Ovidio ???

but I don't see how they can be connected if Buydomains is owned by sedo's biggest competitor... perhaps someone can shed some light on this?

Re: SEDO landing page redirects to BuyDomains.com ? WTF???

sedo have partnerships with Many ISPs, Registrars and Large Portfolio owners and gives them more functionality, as you pointed out it goes to a BuyDomains sales page. This has been about for at least a year.

I would not worry about BuyDomains buying into sedo, it would be more likely that sedos investors would buy out BuyDomains, actually I was suprised at SEDO missing out on the AfterNIC buyout.

AfterNICs partnership, and the flurry of mergers really is something for SEDO to worry about.

SEDO have failed to aquire the assets of a number of companies, making them somewhat stale while there competitors just get bigger and better.

Some strategic moves are going to be required to remain in the game.

Re: SEDO landing page redirects to BuyDomains.com ? WTF???

I think they might just follow a different strategy, the thing about buying competitors in this field is that you buy customers that are with a company for a certain reason, this is not like an oil company buying another one, most people dont care where they buy their gas, but in this industry you pick your parking provider for certain reasons..what if you dont like sedo and your Domain parking company that you park with would be acquired by sedo, would you stay with Sedo or change to your second choice.. if Sedos strategy is to aquire single big customers rather than buying large portfolios that might work very well..if that would be true I would hope that they increase payouts to big portfolio holders, so in case my account manager is reading this: I am ready for a higher bonus..

The only guideline I am aware of is that they discourage the use of ad banners in the other frame. Otherwise, all you have to do is use URL forwarding for the sedo content within your frameset.

    Hi
I just found in sedo's FAQ:
    --------------
You can forward your domains for parking in the following ways:
    1. DNS change ....
    2. URL forwarding ....
    3. Frames / Iframes – Forward the frames to http://www.sedoparking.com/domainname.xyz (replace ‘domain.xyz’ with the name of your domain).
    Advantage: Good search engine results
Disadvantage: Some registrars don’t offer this service and it is possible you will have to create your own frame forwarding in HTML. In this case, the frame which calls up the parking page will have to be 100%.
    -----------------------

The point is the 100% in the frame which calls the sedo parking page.
Apparently you cannot add contact info in other frames.
