    selling newly regged domains

I wonder If anyone here knows what happens when you sell a domain you caught in under 60 days (so it cant be transfered).

    How does sedo manage that?
The registrars keep it for 60 days before allowing transfer out.
With Enom, I know sedo has an account there, so I assume I can push it to there account, but still, it wont get to the buyer (if he has another regsitrar) until after the 60 days are up.

    Any ideas?

Yes it's happened with me ,
I've register a domain thru GoDaddy , and the buyer create a godaddy account in order to pass the 60 days block period. Either you can transfer it to sedo's account (they have accounts in all major registrars)
    Wish you luck

    Re: selling newly regged domains

If they don't have an account at the current registrar I think you just have to wait.
It's your loss and the buyer's loss.

They also have an account at Namescout.

    Re: selling newly regged domains

yes, sedo probably has accounts at the major registrars (I doubt they have them at those weird ones SN and pool catch).
The thing is, even If I push it to sedo's account, the whois will not reflect the buyer.
So, the sale if not complete...?
looks like dvdrip is correct, its a lose lose situation.

The whois CAN change within the first 60 days. So the sale will be complete.

    Re: selling newly regged domains

but it will be (in this scenario) at sedo's account, full ownership isnt done until the buyer has the complete control.
So If buyer x wants it at moniker, and the domain is at domainsrus.cr*p, even If I push to sedo, and they change the whois, he doesnt have access to his own account at cr*p registar.
Epsecially if he is requiring a transfer, and most higher end end users trust their own registrar (like register.com et... netsol).
    So, what happens?

    I'll wait
But I wonder If there is a clause somewhere at sedo, and how they handle such situations if a transfer needs at least 45 days...

    Re: selling newly regged domains

I would like to know that too.

But it is possible to wait for 45 days even if the domain is at enom and/or the transfer is completed.

    Hello Seeker,
I'd recommend that you contact your transfer agent directly with that question - he'll be able to answer your query in detail.

just ask the buyer to create an account in the registrar of the domain and push to him.

    Re: selling newly regged domains

    thanks for your reply Nora.
you mean contact the registrar agent?
I was wondering about how sedo handles that in general.

skylight, I wouldnt create an account with some regsitrars, nevertheless a potential buyer.
also, how would I contact him through sedo's system?

Login to your sedo account click "View Transactions" in the section named "transaction" click on the domain which must be transfered and there you can find submit form in order to contact sedo agent

    Wish you luck

    Re: selling newly regged domains

There is an ICANN rule with newly registered domains. They do have to be held at the current registrar for 60 days before leaving. This is to prevent fraudulent transactions in case someone does a charge back or steals account or credit card information to purchase domains......you can imagine how a domain can be bounced around.

We have a special escrow account at Moniker where the domain can be held in a neutral account to comply with any sales process. In addition, a new account for the new owner can be created at Moniker and the domain can be pushed to that account as long as the domain does not leave Moniker within that 60 day period.

It is the best way to still proceed with a sale for a domain less than 60 days old.

    Hope that helps.
