I have to say, the end of that race almost made me a nascar fan. That was pretty incredible. A guy actually crossed the finish line upside down and on fire! Thought that was only in movies. I thought a caution flag was going to come out and give Martin the win. I guess they try to avoid that in those situations though.
oh the ending rocked= always the crashces in the restrictor plate races- they are massive- yeah that was a studded finish- i just feel bad- harvick got lotsa years to race- i woulda let martin take the win-

I rarely miss a Daytona race and Mark Martin has always been a favorite, a very gracious competitor and a great ambassador of the sport. As soon as I saw that last crash starting, I thought for sure NASCAR would freeze the field as was expected. Perhaps Mark's spotter even told him about the crash, making Mark think for a half-second, "It's mine!" and thereby relaxing just enough to lose.
Not to take away from the great driving of go-karter racer, Kevin Harvick, but NASCAR should have played by its own rules, even if the crash was behind the winners. Mark was clearly waiting for the yellow flag (he even said so) but "NASCAR never threw it out". I think that hesitation was all it took.
Between the on-my-feet, last ten laps of racing, watching Tony Stewart earlier come all the way back up from 42 to 1st, and for such a few amount of cautions, this was the best race I've seen since I don't know when.
