An all European World Cup Finale

I would have lost big money had I bet that the finale of the World Cup would pair up 2 teams from Europe.

That will indeed be the case.

Today's game with Spain and Germany will determine who will face the Dutch team.

My predictions at this point is Germany will win today, 3-1 and will take the Cup home with a 2-1 victory over the Netherlands.


I'll be wearing my Dutch national team jersey so you never know what might happen.

One thing is certain - a great match up is guaranteed and there will be some serious partying going on someplace in Europe.

Germany looks like the team to beat, but Spain has enough talent to win if they show up today, and the Netherlands haven't lost a game yet.

Mueller isn't playing for Germany today either.

Still, if I had to bet up to this point, Germany looks like the best team to win it all. I think Serbia would like to see Germany win, because Serbia beat them 1-0 in group play, so that would be a pride thing to be able to say you beat the World Cup champs.

The lose of Muller could possibly be a big factor. He is awesome.

This game could conceivably go to a shoot out...

I hate to see anyone play for 120 plus minutes lose in that manner.

I hope for Germany to go to the final and lose it to the Dutch so we can finally stop talking about the 1974 finals

I am proposing the idea to my wife for our next trip to Europe to be to the Capital city of the Winning Nation.

Ideally, plan a trip to Rio for the 2014 cup.


Seeing a lot of sportscasters going with Spain on this one.

The German side is very disciplined and their front line can score goals. Spain hasn't scored more than 2 goals in a game, and have only scored a total of six in this World Cup. Germany has scored more than double that (13). And when they lost to Serbia they were one man down (Klose red carded).

I'd like to see the Netherlands win it all, but my head says Germany. I'd only like to see Spain win if they can do it with flair, so far they have just squeaked through to this point.

Spain totally dominated Germany in that game and deserved the win. They shut down the German scoring machine, made them look like a completely different team than the one that beat Argentina and England. I think Spain have finally got it together, great passing and skills. If I were the Netherlands I'd be worried. I think Germany only had one real scoring chance the whole game.

The game was not bad, each team played differently but definitely Spain converted the opportunities into a goal. I was rooting for Germany but I congratulate Spain. Holland plays a completely different game so it will be a fantastic final.

Well, again I am glad not to be a gambler on footie...

Now, college football...that's a different story. I have made a killing (at times) on college football, especially the beginning of the season.

I recall one time beating on Nebraska (forget who they were playing) and they were favored by 44 points. Despite everyone telling me I was crazy to bet on Nebraska giving up that many points, I bet on Nebraska anyways.
