Rooney & Ashley Cole did not play well today
Unfortunately, I missed this having to do some plumbing repairs.
Not that it was a difficult issue, but I did not have the parts/pieces needed and had to go to Lowes.
Hate to miss any of the games.
Argentina v Mexico on now.
I wanted England to win too. I was incredibly sad. :p. Argentina is on now and I want them to win. Haven't watched much of the game, last I checked it was 2-0 AR.

England was going to be thrashed by the German machine but they deserved to have that 2nd goal counted. Things like that affect the match flow.
Yep. That's why Americans have a hard time comprehending the liberal whistles in soccer, they expect the fouls to be described verbatim by the referee as in American football. Of course action replay is not scifi anymore, it's a technological tool. Seeing that ball bounce inside the German goal line before exiting back really hurts.
The first Argentina goal was quite a fluke as well.
Personally, I thought the goalie was mugged on that steal and the subsequent goal/kick was offsides.
Still - certainly looked like a flagrant kick to the goalie while he was holding the ball and a penalty should have been called.
Refs get extra security after bad call

Not surprising. There has been some seriously bad calls or no calls. Even in today's Mexico match, the commentators were openly questioning why even bother have a conference among the refs when the head ref had already made the call. The time to have counsel is to decide what the call actually should be rather than to discuss what the call should have been after the ruling has been made.
I have a sneaking suspicion that after this Cup's blatant bad calls that some form of instant replay or challenge will be initiated.
In tennis and cricket, you have a referal system, where the players have a chance to refer a decision to the tv replay if they think the umpire has got it wrong... It would be easy enough to implement this into football. It wouldn't affect the flow of the game too much, as you only give each side a certain number of referrals for the whole match.
If that technology had been used yesterday, it could have been a very different second half.
