Question Mexico vs. France - What's wrong with the EU teams?

I have to give the edge to Mexico in this matchup.

Aside from only Germany and the Netherlands wins, I have been very unimpressed with the lackluster playing from most of the European teams. Even yesterday's "upset" of Switzerland over Spain and the fluke of a goal for the the USA, the EU teams seem very uninspired. Perhaps some thought they were in an 'easy' group and could dance their way into the semi-finals. But these are some of the most awe-inspiring players and teams on the continent!

I have been very disappointed in Spain, Portugal, and England. I guess I, like most of the world, expected more from the prima donnas of the leagues.

And the way some of the South American teams are playing (attack, attack, attack)! Mercy - where is the World Cup Trophy heading in 2010?

I'm hoping that the teams were just over cautious in the first round of matches, and the subsequent matches will be a better spectacle!

But for Mexico v France, the French players don't get on with the manager, they don't look like a team that knows what they're doing, and as a result, they lost! (Go Mexico!)

Argentina will win this year IMO.

With Germany losing this early, it looks now like the Dutch have to win just to save face.

I watched the US game today. I never expected the US to come back as strong as they did in the second half. The Slovinians looked like thet controlled the entire field.

Now, that US nullified goal? Complete and total bullshlt! There was plenty of US players literally wrapped up in the arms of the defense. There could have been any number of fouls and penalties called on that one play against Slovenia. It was simply pick one, any one of the Slovenia players, and call a foul/holding. It is really surprising any US player was able to get free to even attempt a shot.

And the England team? Where are they? One total goal in total of 2 games? Sure, ties are good and they have only given up one goal. But the UK (and the US) are not likely to advance with just ties.

South american teams are always strong in these tournaments. Òf course there are normally at least five euro teams that have a change. I don't think much has changed, it's just that almost every team sucks right know. And England always sucks. When did they get a decent result in a worldcup lately?
