Re: Cheap Catcher

I use enom.com and godaddy.com when I want to pay under $20 for a dropping name.

I don't think there are any cheaper alternatives at the moment.

The next step up is $37-$40 with enom and then you're up to $60 plus with snapnames.com and pool.com

Re: Cheap Catcher

ClubDrop min. bid $30
Goadddy $18 or so
Be aware that some dropcatchers are more effective with certain TLDs than others

Re: Cheap Catcher

I think godaddy back-order is abs waste. They catch the domain & put it on auction at tdnam. If no one else would want the domain you can probably get it for cheap.

Re: Cheap Catcher

It depends on which TLD you are trying to catch.
Godaddy seems to be good at catching .us names but only one slot allowed per name. I never caught a .us with Pool.

Re: Cheap Catcher

You will have a good chance with godaddy if nobody else wants it, even if it is a .com.

Re: Cheap Catcher

Yep. All GoDaddy expired domains go to TDNAM for auction. Even those with backorders on them. TDNAM is THE place to grab GoDaddy expired domains.

They are also good at picking up other registrars dropped domains, that nobody else wants. They are also good at picking up "tasted" domains which are dropped again after 5 days.

They are hopeless at competing with other registrars for other registrars dropped domains (dropcatching). They might get lucky once in a blue moon.

Backordering domains is pretty much a waste of time ANYWHERE with the flourishing practice of auctioning off of domains before they expire/drop. The exception being domains that nobody else wants. Then you might as well register them when they become available.

Re: Cheap Catcher

To add to that, you will also find if you have a backorder placed on GD, they will automatically place an initial bid on the TDNAM auction for you.
