Adult Hosting

Who do you recommend, for regular hosting for adult sites.., i know many, but wanted your input...regular or dedicated, thx all..

Well I am a Director of a hosting company (A real registered one), not trying to self promote, But we only ever put adult sites on dedicated servers, As in a shared enviroment it can cause problems for other sites on the same server (You can do shared with a dedicated IP, But still Dedicated is better)

It also depends if you mean Adult Images or Adult Videos and wether they would be located on the server or from other resources.

Depending on what he is hosting, I think that the prices for bandwidth are too expensive at that host.

haha..are you serious? They're one of few good adult hosts and the prices are reasonable

Adult hosting is a special niche. Very few hosts truly understand the industry and actively interact with it and know what they are doing in this sector.

Go read through some of the adult boards and see how many threads you find from people whining that their account got canned at budget hosts for content violations, over use of resources, etc. Two of the 4 mentioned here I have first hand experience with and they are top notch hosts that provide fully managed support on multi-homed networks.

I certainly wouldn't trust pay sites with an over subscribed single homed budget Cogent host. However, they may work great for video promo sites where you might need the most bang for the buck.

As to the greedy comment, I think the greedy ones are the budget hosts that put 1k+ clients on beefed up servers knowing that most aren't going to use more than 5% of the resources. Part of their model is to oversubscribe, then they can the 3-5% that put heavy load on the server for vague violations of their TOS. If you know anything about the true costs to run a network you would know that some of these offers just aren't realistic on a MBPS cost.

I've had projects at places like Rackspace as well, definitely not cheap, but when you can reach a tech at 3 am to resolve something in less than 5 minutes then you see the value. If you are someone that can admin your own server then that is another story, but most people can't.

Looking at price alone is a mistake, make sure you are comparing apples to apples. Good luck with finding one that fits you best.

That is where your wrong. I have over 50 dedicated servers under my control and understand exactly how things work. I also rent out dedicated servers and set them up for clients. There is nothing special about the needs of adult hosting, if you need bandwidth, you get it. Last month I gave an adult network a 3 day trial of a dual opteron server with 8gb of ram that could push 600mbps. They were very pleased and liked my price and are going to be moving over to me when their contract with their other host ends.

I don't deal with shared hosting. It's to much a pain and not worth it unless you oversubscribe as you mentioned.
